About Underdog Wine Bar
The Underdog Wine Bar is a hidden gem amongst the romance of the vines in the heart of wine country. We offer an impressive selection of over 50 wines from around the world, California, and our very own Livermore Valley. The bar and lounge offers a warm contemporary approach to our unique wine and food experience. Nestled in the original barrel room of the historic Concannon Winery established in 1883, it features hand crafted tables made from repurposed 100-year old wood.
The wines are organized by flights, which are three 2 ounce pours. You may order them by your favorite style, varietal, or geographic point of origin. We also offer glasses and full traditional service for bottles. Wines change frequently as we strive to find rare gems that inspire and delight our guests. The wines are dispensed from one of the Bay Area’s largest Enomatic argon gas powered systems. Wine is held in a state of constant preservation to ensure that our guests experience wine as flavorful as possible.
Meet the Chefs
Chef Mel Coleman graduated from Laney College with an Associates of Arts in Culinary Arts. Chef Coleman has a love for Italian cuisine. In addition to the Bay Area, he has worked in Puerto Rico, Louisiana, and Austin, Texas. His passions outside of the kitchen include reading, cultivating his garden, and being a father to his daughter.
Chef Anthony Abad graduated from the Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management program at San Francisco City College with an Associates of Science degree. Recently, he worked as the tenured head chef at the University Club of Palo Alto in Palo Alto, CA. He favors taking a global approach to creating dishes and likes to use ingredients and techniques from different cuisines to create his dishes. Outside of the kitchen, whether it’s playing catch with his son, dancing with his daughter in his kitchen or trying out new restaurants with his wife, he enjoys spending time with his family. He also enjoys reading and learning more about the ever-changing culinary world.
In partnership with On The Vine Catering, we offer exquisite small plates of food. Think of them as Tapas with a global and California flair. Using seasonal and locally sourced ingredients, the Chefs craft menu items that are meant to be shared and paired with any one or several of the over 50 wines we offer.
